Dear Wisesheets User,
Before you sign in, we would like to be completely transparent with you in regards to what data we can see and what data we collect. The first time you try to login, a pop-up will appear prompting you to allow Wisesheets to see, edit, create, and delete your spreadsheets in Google Sheets.
We understand that this pop-up may look scary, but this page is here to alleviate any concerns that you may have regarding your privacy.
At Wisesheets, our mission is to create an application that allows you to update a Google sheet with financial data. In order to do this, Google requires us to request permissions so that we can enable you to successfully carry out this task. ANY action done by Wisesheets on your Google sheets was done ONLY because you requested it. We do not store/see ANY data that is on your spreadsheet, that data is maintained by Google. Wisesheets currently does not support the ability to read from your spreadsheets, we only support writing to your spreadsheets when you request it. Additionally, Wisesheets ONLY supports writing to spreadsheets that have been created through the application. We do not support the ability to edit spreadsheets that have not been created through the application. Think of Wisesheets like a middleman, we are just passing along your messages to Google’s API. If you want to create a spreadsheet, we tell Google to create a spreadsheet for you. If you want to update your spreadsheet with Apple’s income statement from 2015, we gather the data, and tell Google to update your spreadsheet.
When you grant Wisesheets permissions, what you are really doing under the hood is issuing yourself an access token that will be used to make requests to Google’s API. This access token verifies that you’re you, and we need to append it to every request you make in Wisesheets so that Google can act accordingly. Without this token, Wisesheets would only allow you to look at your spreadsheet, and what’s the fun in that?
If you have any further questions, we would love to hear from you. You can contact us anytime at email@example.com.Sincerely,
The Wisesheets Team
